I’m author Rona D. and the founder of the Friendship Matters Experience inspired by my award-winning novel, “Friendship Matters.”
We are so glad you asked! First let me give you a little background. At a time when America and much of the world had been quarantined, separated from family, friends, loved ones, Friendship Matters was pushed forward and released February 2022. It was evident after my team of beta readers, made up of family and friends, male and females, that God’s timing was perfect. I have to give credit to God for his timing because this story was written and finished in 2005. However, I never pushed it forward. The experience of 2020, having been off work for the longest I’ve ever been in my career, God brought back to my remembrance this book that I had poured into 15 years prior and pushed me to move it forward. I had no idea that the story would resonate so strongly with both women and men, young and seasoned! I recall the words from my Pastor’s wife and many others telling me that this story, although fictional, was much more than that. Friendship Matters will change the lives of many. Through many chats following with my team, one member in particular had the idea of moving the experience of what friendship should look like to a broader audience. Out of that was birthed the Friendship Matters Experience. It’s a Movement, something that will bring women together in social settings to enjoy one another and potentially grow from those interactions. She made the suggestion that I begin planning monthly outings and if you don’t know me, planning events is one of my passions so of course I took it and ran with it.
Today, when we refer to the Friendship Matters Experience, you’ll commonly see terms such as Movement and Vibe as well because it is all that in one. Let me give you just a little more…
The Friendship Matters Experience is often referred to as a Movement primarily because the sole focus is intentionally creating events that will spark authentic connections with ladies and gentlemen who seek to enjoy social events that include good people removing the messiness we often see in the media and on social medial platforms.
Within all of that, it has become a healing, transformative, elevating, and inspiring experience that takes us back to in-person connections with sprinkles of virtual opportunities. We believe it’s time to reconnect in a way that embraces each others’ differences and creates a culture of inclusivity.
A vibe is considered a slang term defined as “positive feelings given off by a person, place or thing.” That is the essence of what the Friendship Matters Experience seeks to provide. We aim to create an atmosphere full of good people who share a common interest in having a great time. That experience will and has led to those who’ve attended or happened to see some of the postings on social media wanting to be a part of it moving forward.
We started the Friendship Matter events January 2023 planning happy hours, brunches, book birthday celebration, candle making, paint and sips, and ended the year with our Ladies Weekend at the Ritz Carlton & The Color Purple Musical movie. We plan to continue on and we’re expecting it to grow bigger and better.

Dive into “The Friendship Matters Series,” a delightful exploration of love, laughter, and the unbreakable bonds of friendship. This captivating collection follows the journeys of three dynamic women—Kandace, Saisha, and Euniqé—as they navigate the highs and lows of life, romance, and the complexities of their relationships.
In the inaugural book, “Friendship Matters,” we meet these relatable characters who embody the essence of true friendship. Saisha, a bold, sassy and talented cook, is on a quest for love and self-discovery, facing a whirlwind of emotions and unexpected encounters. Euniqé, the widowed, wise heart of the group, grapples with the challenges of single motherhood and the possibility of finding love again after a profound loss. Meanwhile, Kandace, married with two children, who appears to lead a perfect life, confronts her hidden dissatisfaction and embarks on a transformative journey toward self-fulfillment.
The sequel, “The Matters of Friendship,” brings back our beloved trio as they tackle new romantic entanglements and personal ambitions. Kandace strives to establish herself as Buffalo’s premier interior designer while dealing with the emotional fallout from her tumultuous past. Saisha balances her blossoming marriage with the unexpected reappearance of an old flame, leading to a series of awkward yet humorous confrontations. Euniqé finds herself at a crossroads when her boyfriend’s ex-wife disrupts her tranquil life, forcing her to weigh love against the chaos.
Together, these women prove that the true essence of friendship lies in supporting one another through life’s trials, armed with humor, love, and perhaps a few Mimosas along the way. Get ready to laugh, cry, and cheer for Kandace, Saisha, and Euniqé as they remind us that friendship matters most when navigating life’s unpredictable journey.
